Can We Decolonize Library Education?
One of five panelists, we “explore(d) how MLIS and Library Technician programs are addressing Canada's Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and the problematic diversity gap within our profession more broadly.”
I shared my perspective as an Indigenous UBC,MLIS, FNCC student opening discussion with actions of reconciliation that libraries can implement, and why it is important to make those changes; I identified gaps and shared examples of how we can close them by making changes in library programming and funding design.
